Let me begin with a quote from Benjamin Franklin; “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I
remember. Involve me and I learn.” This quote encompasses my approach in the classroom.
Whether it is a young child or an adult, feeling like a part of the educational process is essential
for individual growth.

As an educator for over 22 years, I pride myself in creating a safe and welcoming learning
environment. I make every effort to meet the needs and learning styles of all my students. I stay
up to date with the latest research based approaches and strategies.

I am a struggling reader and can empathize with those that find reading to be a struggle. Many
individuals have asked why I chose the field of Reading Specialist. My response is simple. I can
relate to reading and not comprehending. I can relate to being the last one to finish the reading
assignment.
Learning needs to be fun, interactive and relevant.
